City of Boroondara

The City of Boroondara is an inner-eastern Melbourne council serving a community of around 178,000 residents. Boroondara is actively pursuing circular economy outcomes through its “Going Circular” Circular Economy Strategy and Action Plan 2025–27, which includes initiatives to support furniture and hard waste reuse, community repair programs and sustainable procurement.
The council joined the AFISC Local Government Participation Programme in 2026 to collaborate with industry on practical solutions for furniture circularity, resource recovery and sustainable procurement.
